association between dietary fats with lipid profiles and crp level in multiple sclerosis women patients

background: multiple sclerosis (ms) is one of the most prevalent of nerves system disease. ms is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder. nutrition and diet are effective factors for prevention and treatment in ms, however finding are controversial. the aim of this study was investigation of dietary pattern of fat consumption and its relationship with lipid profiles crp level in ms patient. methods: this cross-sectional study was done on ms women patients that refer to ms clinic and kashani hospital in isfahan city with inclusion factors. demographic characteristics were collected from questionnaire. biochemical characteristics of patients (total cholesterol, tg, hdl, ldl, crp) were measured with standards protocols. dietary intake was assessed with a semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire focused on items related to dietary fats. findings: average of patients age was 33/04±8/14. correlation between various kinds of dietary fats (sfa, pufa, mufa) and blood lipids and crp was not significant after adjusting with confounding factors such as age, weight and total energy intake. after multiple linier regression analysis, significant relationship was not shown in none of the models. conclusion: in this study hadn’t shown any significant relationship between kind of dietary fats intake with increasing the risk factors of ms disease. association between nutrition and ms need to more investigation.
